Used to mastermind AutoCAD Civil 3D work flows in engineering design and automation, has developed a new passion to use unmanned aircraft systems to capture and obtain data for all areas of planning and construction design needs.
GIS Professional with years of experience utilizing and producing geospatial products. Having used numerous imagery products over almost a decade he understands the need for good imagery to provide high quality end products. UAV imagery is a route for him to explore using his skill set in offering clients a new view of their projects.
Unmanned Aircraft (UAS)equipped with GPS can be programmed to fly autonomously while providing the remote pilot real-time feedback. They come in many forms and either have built in cameras or can have other payload attach with hindering aircraft performance.
The UAS can have built-in cameras or other sensors that allow the operators to acquire photos and videos or even point cloud data. The data is geo-tagged with latitude/longitude or user specified coordinate systems.
After image data has been collected, photogrammetry techniques are applied using special software such as Pix4D, a product we chose to use.
This application give us the tools to produce a range of products and services that different markets can take full advantage of and can be used in CAD/GIS platforms -
1. Oblique Photos or videos from free flight missions.
2. Photogrammetry generates tie-points and can be adjusted to accurate elevation using ground control points and is exported as LAS or XYZ. *Near survey grade.
3. Point cloud can generate a textured 3D mesh perfect for stratigic planning and marketing.
4. All images captured from the flight is processed into an ortho-image to illustrate, current project status.
5. Site analysis can be performed, from measurement to volumetric calculations.
